Collard City Growers is a grassroots demonstration garden and composting project located in North Central Troy. We turned a vacant lot located in a brownfields-designated area into an urban garden, drawing upon resources from the community and the Upstate New York region to grow produce and the next generation of growers.

    Bio-char with David Yarrow is a lesson in organic gardening and soil improvement on a lot tended by the Collard City Growers in North Troy, NY. Local youth from this neighborhood are putting lessons from David Yarrow into practice in an education program sponsored by the Uptown Summer (a collaboration between Youth Media Sanctuary, Collard City Growers, The Missing Link Street Ministry, DIY SnackShops, and Troy Bike Rescue.
